My Story

Kaley Coltrain is a Licensed Clinical Social Work Associate (License #PO19404) based in North Carolina. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Social Work from Marist College in New York and a Master’s Degree in Social Work from Appalachian State University in North Carolina.

Kaley brings a wealth of experience working with children, adolescents, families, and couples. Using a person-centered approach, she meets clients where they are and tailors her care to fit their unique needs. Her diverse professional background includes supporting individuals navigating substance use, poverty, reintegration post-incarceration, trauma, and various mental health diagnoses.

Kaley believes therapy should be a positive, supportive environment where individuals can explore and develop a healthy relationship with themselves. She empowers her clients to prioritize self-care, build healthy coping skills, and deepen their self-connection.

Kaley’s therapeutic approach integrates a variety of evidence-based techniques and interventions, ensuring that each client’s journey is personalized. Her methods include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Crisis Intervention, Reality Therapy, and Mindfulness practices. She also incorporates elements from Play Therapy, Trauma-Informed Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and Art Therapy.

A strong advocate of Trauma-Focused Therapy, Kaley prioritizes collaboration, safety, and empowerment in her therapeutic relationships, while maintaining clear and defined boundaries. She is particularly focused on specializing in Solution-Focused Therapy, DBT, and Trauma-Focused Therapy.

Kaley’s passion for helping others began early in life and continues to drive her career. She is committed to empowering each client to embrace their genuine and authentic selves, guiding them through their self-healing journey with care and compassion.

Outside of her work, Kaley enjoys hiking, exploring nature, rock climbing, weightlifting, reading, and spending quality time with her family and her beloved rescue dog. A former Division 1 Collegiate Softball player at Marist College and Appalachian State University, Kaley also dedicates time each week to mentoring and instructing young softball players who are eager to learn and grow in the sport.
